Dear Mr. Weltevrede and the Wuensch-Ambulance Team,
Here are a few photographs of our time at the Children’s Hospice in Olpe. I was so grateful for the chance to rest and relax there, and to hand over the nursing care of Daniel to the kind children’s nurses. While enjoying the respite care at Haus Balthasar, we also have the chance to enjoy the warmed swimming pool, laugh at the clowns, explore the little town of Olpe, meet up with other families of children with life-limiting disorders, as well as being able to have music therapy once a week – a big highlight for Daniel. I caught up on some much needed sleep and also had time for myself to do some crafts. Thank you very much for making this visit possible for us with “Wunsch-Ambulance”. Without your help we would not have been able to get there and back, as Daniel’s physical needs have increased in the last months, making “normal” transport impossible. He needed to be on his breathing machine for the trip home as he had not slept well the night before and was forgetting to breathe. I was very glad to know he was in good hands in the Team’s care.
Your Dutch Colleages in the ambulance travelled from Rotterdam, giving of their time and profession to help us! We left from Duesseldorf to Olpe and then they had to go all the way back – twice! That is a lot of driving! They were friendly and cheerful and very able. Daniel enjoyed his special Paramedic Teddy Bear! Thank you!
Please would you kindly pass on my grateful thanks to the two teams who helped us. I wish you and your team a blessed Christmas and a healthy and hope-filled New Year,
Yours faithfully Judy Machine’
